Toxic chemicals seem to be everywhere - even in your favourite beauty product.  The Huffington Post has put together a slide show of toxic chemicals that you can find in common household and beauty products.  There is everything from lead in lipstick to weed killer in drinking water.  Yikes.

Thanks Huff Post for keeping us informed and aware!

Eat Local - It's Good for You!

Eating local can be done year-round but in the summer it's that much easier, especially if you live in Ottawa.

The obvious choices for fresh, local fruit and vegetables in Ottawa are the Byward Market, and Parkdale Market, but there are many other options out there!

The Ottawa Farmers' Market is located in parking lot 4 of Lansdowne Park and brings together local producers of fruit, vegetables, meat and ever arts and crafts! The Market is seasonal and is open every Sunday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm until the end of October. The market has limited hours on some Thursday's and Saturday's throughout the season (pls check their website for specific times).

The Ottawa Farmers' market has opened a new satellite market in Orleans. It is located at Centrum Plaza and will be open Friday's between noon and 7:00 pm until October 29th.

There are so many great choices in Ottawa - if you need more info, the City of Ottawa has a list of local Farmer's Markets.

Wherever you go, take advantage of these seasonal markets to enjoy the best food Ottawa has to offer!
